The Sunday cheese plate, rethought.

A Plated final shot

The combination that started everything for us. Aged cheddar, a sharp ginger jam, and Nicely Spiced Kurma exactly where the crackers usually go.

Ingredients · serves 6
  • Aged cheddar 200g
  • Creamy blue cheese 150g
  • Ginger or chilli jam 1 jar
  • Ripe pear, sliced 1
  • Nicely Spiced Kurma 1 tub
  • Grapes, to fill a handful
Pairs with

A cold glass of sorrel, or a strong cup of tea.

Method · 5 minutes
  1. Take the cheeses out of the fridge 30 minutes before serving. Cold cheese hides its flavour.
  2. Set the two cheeses at opposite corners of a board with the jam in a small bowl between them.
  3. Pile a generous heap of Nicely Spiced Kurma where you'd normally put crackers. This is the whole move.
  4. Fill the gaps with pear, grapes, and anything else good in the fruit bowl. Serve with a small knife and let people build their own.
