Privacy policy

At Chungums, we are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information with care. This policy explains what we collect, how and why we use it, and the rights you have over it.

  • Email: support@chungums.co.uk
  • Registered office: Unit 3, Cotswold Edge Business Park, Hempsted Lane, Gloucester, GL2 5WZ

  • Marketing preferences such as whether you have chosen to hear from us and how you like to be contacted.

How and why we use your information

We use your personal information only where we have a lawful basis to do so. In practice, that means:

  • To fulfil your order and provide customer support (to perform our contract with you).
  • To send service messages such as order confirmations and delivery updates (to perform our contract with you).
  • To send marketing such as our newsletter and offers, where you have asked us to (with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time).

  • To meet our legal obligations such as tax and accounting requirements (to comply with the law).

Marketing

With your consent, we may send you emails and SMS messages about our products, offers and news. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any marketing message, or by contacting us. We will always respect your choice.

Who we share it with

We never sell your personal information. We share it only with trusted providers who help us run the business, and only so far as they need it to do their job. These include:

  • Shopify, which powers our online store and processes payments.
  • Klaviyo, which manages our email marketing and sign-ups.
  • Judge.me, which collects and displays product reviews.
  • hCaptcha, which helps protect our site from spam and abuse.
  • Royal Mail and other delivery partners, to send your order.

We may also disclose your information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our customers or our business.

International transfers

Some of our providers may process your information outside the UK. Where they do, we take steps to make sure it is protected by appropriate safeguards, in line with UK data protection law.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to help it work, to remember your preferences, to understand how the site is used, and to support our marketing. You can control or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. If you have any questions about the cookies we use, please contact us.

How long we keep it

We keep your personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes set out here, or for as long as the law requires, after which we securely delete or anonymise it.

Keeping your information secure

We use appropriate measures to protect your personal information. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work hard to safeguard your data once it reaches us.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your information in certain circumstances;
  • ask us to restrict or object to how we use it;
  • ask for a copy of your information in a portable format; and
  • withdraw your consent to marketing at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at support@chungums.co.uk. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, though we would always welcome the chance to put things right first.

Children

Our website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version here and, where the change is significant, let you know.
